CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard will host an active threat response exercise for full-time staff at the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs campus, 6848 S. Revere Parkway, Centennial, Colorado, in November.
The exercise will evaluate response procedures by simulating an active threat environment and provide hands-on education and preparedness for DMVA employees for threat situations and evacuation.
“In preparation for this exercise we have partnered with Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department and look forward to this valuable training event,” Joint Operations Director U.S. Army Lt. Col. Eric Hayes said. “Conducting this active shooter threat exercise prepares us to react to an emergency situation and to live our motto of ‘Always Ready, Always There.’”
The evacuation of facility staff is expected. Sounds simulating gunfire and yelling may be heard in the immediate area.
This annual training increases preparedness and is not in response to any heightened threat level or direct threat to any person or property.
To simulate a realistic training environment, this event is not open to the public.
