BUCKLEY SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. –
The 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard, is conducting night flying training at Buckley SFB, Aurora, Nov. 5, 2024-Feb. 28, 2025.
The 120th Fighter Squadron, 140th Wing, COANG is conducting nighttime flying missions and will arrive back at Buckley SFB as late as 10 p.m. MST most nights during that period.
The local and adjacent communities can anticipate an increase in flight activity and noise level from the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft during this period.
“Night flying is a critical aspect of the strategic training we perform to remain alert and ready for the call to action in any condition, day or night, 24/7,” U.S. Air Force Col. Ben “Scrappy” Couchman, commander, 140th Wing said. “We thank our local communities, especially in the immediate vicinity, for their understanding that night missions are critical in remaining ready to enter the fight at any time. We strive to minimize the disruptive nature in the surrounding area while also serving the state and nation by meeting and exceeding the requirements for mission readiness.”
The community’s patience and understanding of the necessary training activities is greatly appreciated. The training gained from these exercises will significantly improve the 140th Wing’s ability to prepare and respond to contingency operations around the world.
The 140th Wing’s real-world mission and emergency response capability will not be affected and will take priority over training actions.
The wing stands ready 24/7 to respond to airborne threats against our state and nation as part of its Aerospace Control Alert mission.
