CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are participating in the state's annual Best Warrior Competition at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Oct. 19-22, 2023.
Non-commissioned Officers and junior enlisted service members will test their physical and mental prowess over the next three days during a series of events, striving to be crowned the best.
“The importance of the Best Warrior Competition is pretty simple: it is to get these men and women sets and reps and to get them trained in something that they are not normally used to training on in their home environment,” CONG State Command Sgt. Maj. U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. John Assad said. “Competition breeds excellence.”
The top-tier competitors from each service branch of the CONG will earn the title of Colorado NCO of the Year or Airman or Soldier of the Year.
The Army National Guard winners will move on to compete in the Region VII Best Warrior Competition in 2024. The Air National Guard does not have a follow-on competition.
