CENTENNIAL, Colo.— The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Robert Davis will promote U.S. Army Col. William DiProfio to the rank of brigadier general at a ceremony at Joint Force Headquarters-Colorado, Centennial, at 2:30 p.m., Jan. 10, 2026.
Davis selected DiProfio as director of joint staff, JFHQ-CO and commander of the standing Joint Task Force-Centennial. As such, DiProfio is responsible for leading the CONG’s response to domestic emergencies as directed by the governor.
Additionally, DiProfio directs the Colorado National Guard’s National Guard State Partnership Program which includes partnerships with the Republic of Slovenia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Swiss Confederation.
“General DiProfio has been an impactful leader for the Colorado National Guard for over two decades,” said Davis. “He is talented and dedicated, and his continued service as a general officer will have lasting, positive effects on Colorado and our country.”
DiProfio received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of New Hampshire and began his career in the National Guard as a field artillery officer for the New Hampshire Army National Guard.
He joined the Colorado Army National Guard in 2000, serving on both battalion and brigade staff in key positions including battalion liaison officer, brigade operations officer, fire support coordinator, brigade operations, and deputy commander. He also commanded battery, battalion and brigade levels.
DiProfio also served at the headquarters level as director of joint, operations and military support where he oversaw all domestic operations for the CONG to include the response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the longest and largest response in our state’s history, and the most destructive wildfires to impact Colorado.
Most recently DiProfio commanded the 169th Field Artillery Brigade which included a deployment of the brigade headquarters in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve from April 2024 to January 2025 in the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility.
DiProfio holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire. He worked in the network management industry, first as a software developer and then as a sales engineer before transitioning to the National Guard Active Guard and Reserve program in 2006. He has been a full-time Guardsman ever since.
This ceremony highlights and showcases military tradition during the historic event of a flag level promotion using a howitzer salute. A howitzer team will fire three practice rounds during the rehearsal and 11 rounds for the ceremony.
The promotion ceremony is open to common access card holders and their families.
