CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard is hosting the 2024 Best Warrior Competition at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, October 24-27, 2024. Non-commissioned Officers and junior enlisted service members are testing their physical and mental capabilities as they compete for the prestigious titles of Colorado’s NCO of the Year and Soldier or Airman of the Year.
“This competition is about fostering excellence, teamwork, and resilience, which are at the core of everything we do as Guardsmen,” Colorado Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Erik Miller said. “We will be incorporating the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. So these Soldiers and Airmen will have to step out of their comfort zones and push themselves while competing against their toughest peers.”
Throughout the competition, participants face a variety of physical challenges, tactical exercises, and military knowledge assessments, designed to push them to their limits and highlight their leadership, stamina, and skill under pressure.
Winners from the Army National Guard will advance to represent Colorado at the Region VII Best Warrior Competition in 2025. Air National Guard participants will be recognized as the top in our state, with no regional follow-on competition.
