CENTENNIAL, Colo. The Colorado National Guard will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a $9.4 million construction project that expanded the Fort Lupton Readiness Center, at 10:00 a.m., July 26, 2024, at 2930 9th Street, Fort Lupton, CO 80621.

The Fort Lupton RC now supports the training and administrative requirements for a total of 206 Soldiers and 110 vehicles.

The construction project used both state and federal funds.  The building earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.

The 41,942-square-foot expansion, comprised of 5,826 square feet of readiness center space, a 6,627 square foot multi-purpose training building, 6,875 square yards of military vehicle parking, and 3,864 square yards of personal vehicle parking, enabled Company I, 186th Support Battalion, to move out of the Winsor Readiness Center into a more capable facility cohabitated by their sister unit, Company B, 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry. Consolidation of the two companies into one facility enabled more effective training of the units, with modern and safe administrative, training, storage, and unit maintenance areas.  These changes also support retention and recruiting for these units.

“The unveiling of this state-of-the-art maintenance facility and gym completes the expansion project that India Company and the Infantry Battalion have been anticipating for nearly three years,” U.S. Army Capt. Kayla Koeune, I-Co commander, said. “This multifunctional building enhances unit readiness by ensuring rapid maintenance and repair, amenities to increase Soldier fitness, training and retention, and allows increased integration and streamlined operations with Bravo Company.”

Additionally, moving out of the Windsor RC opened space for the 3650th Maintenance Company to relocate from an overcrowded Combined Support Maintenance Site in, Firestone, Colorado, to the vacated facility.

This project is part of a master plan to provide modern readiness facilities to all units in the COARNG and replace aging readiness centers that no longer meet space or code requirements.

The contract for the architectural engineering firm was awarded to HB&A Architecture & Planning.  The construction management and general contracting was awarded to Howell Construction Company.
