CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Family, friends, and colleagues of the Colorado Army National Guard 169th Field Artillery Brigade will gather for a departure ceremony to be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Southeast Christian Church, Parker, Colorado, April 4, 2024.
Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera and The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Laura Clellan will be the presiding officials at the ceremony.
More than 100 Citizen-Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 169th FAB will deploy to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility for approximately one year as part of Task Force Spartan in support of Operation Spartan Shield.
The unit will sustain and protect Combined Land Component Forces, build partner nation capacity, deter Iranian aggression, and provide artillery support to the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.
“This will be the second time the 169th Field Artillery Brigade has deployed in support of Operation Spartan Shield,” U.S. Army Col. William Diprofio, 169th FAB commander, said. “This is a team of true professionals ready to serve. We are thankful to have the support of our community, families, and employers, without that support we would not be able to do the difficult jobs we do.”
OSS is a CENTCOM operation in the Middle East. U.S. Army Central commands OSS which includes units from all service branches. Task Force Spartan is the U.S. Army component of OSS.
The 169th FAB has battalions spread across four states: Colorado; Wisconsin; Michigan; and, Pennsylvania. The headquarters element is the only unit deploying.
