Colorado hosts Region VII Best Warrior competition
CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Sixteen elite Noncommissioned officers and Soldiers from eight states and territories will participate in the Army National Guard’s Region VII Best Warrior Competition at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, May 17-20, 2021.
This regional event includes the best NCO and Soldier from Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
“We’re honored to be able to host this competition which puts some of the National Guard’s best Soldiers to the ultimate test,” said Army Command Sergeant Major John W. Assaad, Colorado Army National Guard state command sergeant major. “We have some extremely demanding and exciting events planned that will be challenging and fun for the competitors and everyone involved.”
While event organizers may add their own twist to the tasks, standard events in the competition include land navigation, various Army warrior tasks, a marksmanship stress shoot and other strenuous physical activities that will test a warrior’s physical and mental agility.
The winners of this event will go on to compete at the Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition in July and if they win their respective category, advance to the U.S. Army Best Warrior Competition in the fall of 2021.
Colorado last hosted the Region VII event in 2013.
