GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Division of Veterans Affairs-West will host an open house at the new Western Region One Source in Grand Junction, March 8, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., offering guided tours every half hour.

A state-owned, former Colorado National Guard armory in Grand Junction is the new home of the Western Region One Source, which will help serve the needs of Colorado service members, veterans, and their families who live in the 24 counties along the Western Slope.

“With the Governor’s leadership, we will increase our capacity to assist Colorado service members, veterans, and their families, making Colorado even more of a military- and veteran-friendly state,” The Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh said.  “The addition of a Western Region One Source will centralize resources under one roof, making it easier for those who serve or have served, and their families, to take that first step in obtaining assistance.”

The Western Region One Source is located at 482 28 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81501.

Veterans are a growing population across Colorado. More than 400,000 veterans live in Colorado, with about 10 percent living along the Western Slope.

The Western Region One Source is close to a major veteran-serving medical facility, the VA Western Colorado Health Care System, which is already a destination for about 15,000 veterans in the western region.

The Western Region One Source is accepting sponsorship, partnership, and prospective tenant applications. The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs needs to raise about $150,000 through sponsorships to cover the cost of furniture and equipment. Community veteran service providers will be able to rent space in the 14,000-square-foot facility.
