CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard said farewell to approximately 300 deploying Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery Regiment Dec. 6, 2021.
The unit will support U.S. Central Command as part of Operation Spartan Shield.
Their mission is essential in demonstrating the United States’ commitment to the security and stability of our partners in the Middle East and Central Asia.
"Thank you, families and employers, for what you are doing to defend America,” U.S. Army Lt. Col. Michael Nysse, battalion commander, said. “Your continued support and commitment means a great deal to the Soldiers and the Regiment."
The Soldiers will complete pre-mobilization training over the next several weeks at Fort Bliss, Texas. More than 110 of the deploying Soldiers are from the 188th Forward Support Company, the 3rd battalions maintenance company.
