Colorado National Guard Soldiers, Airmen compete to become Best Warrior
CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will participate in the state's annual Best Warrior Competition at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, April 11-14, 2019.
Events in this year's competition include a night land navigation course, a medical evacuation test, an obstacle course, and comprehensive written exams.
“This state competition rigorously tests the readiness of our Colorado National Guard warriors,” U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael Loh said. “It’s unique throughout the nation because Airmen compete alongside Soldiers for this coveted award.”
The top-performing Non-commissioned Officer and junior enlisted service member from each service branch of the CONG will become the Colorado NCO of the Year or Airman or Soldier of the Year, respectively.
The Army National Guard winners will go on to compete at the Region 7 Best Warrior Competition in Hawthorne, Nevada, May 20-24, 2019. The Air National Guard does not have a follow-on competition.
This is the third year for joint competition.
