Fenner promotes to the rank of brigadier general in a ceremony to be held at Colorado National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters, Centennial, Colorado, Aug. 26, 2023. Fenner is responsible for the training and readiness of the High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site, The Recruiting and Retention Battalion, and Joint Force Headquarters. He also serves as the Army director for the Joint Diversity and Inclusion working group. His next assignment will be land component commander for the Colorado Army National Guard. Director of Joint Staff U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Scott Sherman, Colorado National Guard promotes to major general in a ceremony Aug. 26, 2023. Sherman directly supervises the joint staff and is the commander of the standing Joint Task Force-Centennial, responsible for leading the CONG’s response to domestic events, as directed by the governor. Colorado Air National Guard conducts night flying training

U.S. Air Force Maj. Mathew “Chaff” Crabb, pilot, 120th Fighter Squadron, 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard, Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado, prepares his aircraft for a training mission prior to a night flight during Red Flag 17-2 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The Red Flag exercise is a realistic combat training exercise involving the air forces of the United States, its allies, and coalition partners, and is conducted on the vast gunnery ranges of the 2.9 million acre Nevada Test and Training Range, a primary training area associated with Nellis AFB. The exercise brings in more than 100 aircraft and 3,000 personnel with the goal of preparing commanders and service members at all levels for war in a realistic training scenario.
