CENTENNIAL, Colo. – A ceremony honoring seven Colorado Army National Guard Soldiers from the Main Command Post - Operational Detachment deploying to Poland with the 1st Infantry Division in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve was held at 5:00 p.m. ,Sept. 17, 2022, at Fort Carson, Colorado.
“The MCP-OD offers valuable support to the division staff of the 1st Infantry Division,” said U.S. Army Lt. Col. Joshua Clopton, MCP-OD Commander. “We are going to Poland to support and assure our NATO allies that we’re committed to the defense of Europe. We are honored to be a part of that mission.”
U.S. Army Europe and Africa has led the Department of Defense’s Atlantic Resolve land efforts by providing rotational U.S.-based units to Europe to show commitment to NATO allies while building readiness, increasing interoperability, and enhancing the bonds between ally and partner militaries.
The MCP-OD is based out of Fort Carson. In Colorado the unit is assigned to the 169th Field Artillery Brigade, but aligned toto the 1st Infantry Division with a mission to increase capacity and extend operations and support for the Division’s Main Command Post and the Division Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion.
