Grand Junction, Colo. — The next quarterly veterans’ memorial service will be held July 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the committal shelter at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501.

During the service, the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard, along with Team III Colorado National Guard Honor Guard, will perform military honors as a tribute and final salute in memory of all veterans who had no military honors during their committal for the Months of January, February, March, April, May and June.

In this especially large service, we will be honoring 20+ veterans. This number is comprised of those veterans who were scheduled for the cancelled April Quarterly, as well as honoring many veterans who could not have services due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Local veterans from all branches of service comprise the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard. The program will also include members of the Patriot Guard Riders, a dove release by Crys Garner’s Love Doves, pipers from the Rocky Mountain Scots, the tolling of the Veterans Memorial Bell, along with a cannon shot from the cemetery’s memorial cannon.

“Through this ceremony, our community pays fitting tribute to our unsung Colorado warriors who defended freedom,” the Adjutant General of Colorado U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Mike Loh said.  “The rendering of military honors means that their service is remembered and celebrated.”

The ceremony is open to the public. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
