'Hero 2 Hired' mobile job store to visit Peterson Air Force Base

302nd Airlift Wing Public Affairs

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (1/9/13) -- The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs' "Hero 2 Hired" Mobile Job Store will be operational in the Peterson Club parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 22-23.

This Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve partner program, also known as H2H, employs an electronic job and career web platform, mobile applications and Facebook integration, as well as virtual and physical career fairs, to address the unique employment challenges facing members of the Guard and Reserve.

While specifically created for Guard and Reserve service members, all job-seeking Department of Defense identification card holders are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Mobile Job Store allows users to search for available jobs through the H2H jobs website, which is specifically designed to connect those seeking employment with military-friendly civilian employers that have made a commitment to hire veterans. The H2H van also provides service members assistance with resumé building and translating their military skills to civilian job qualifications.

"We're proud to provide this empowering tool absolutely free for Guard and Reserve service members, spouses, veterans and employers," said Ronald Young, director, Family and Employer Programs and Policy. "The Mobile Job Store is just a small part of H2H's focused effort to help service members and their spouses find employment through various activities including employment assistance workshops, job fairs, employment summits, and many other local community programs."

Launched in November 2011, the mission of H2H is to simplify the job search while reducing the number of unemployed Reserve Component service members. H2H is managed by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and works in partnership with the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program and ESGR. More information for H2H can be found on the bottom of 302nd Airlift Wing's public website homepage at www.302aw.afrc.af.mil. For more information on the Peterson AFB visit, contact Michelle Olson at 648-0800.
