What began as a routine afternoon of physical therapy and a quick workout for U.S. Air Force Maj. Joshua Stevens, a civil engineer with the 240th Civil Engineer Flight, 140th Wing, turned into a life-altering moment when gunfire erupted at the high school next to the recreation center in Evergreen, Colorado, Sept. 10, 2025.

Air National Guard command chief visits 140th Wing

In a visit aimed at assessing the operational readiness and recognizing the dedicated Airmen of the Colorado Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Josh Moore, the command chief of the Air National Guard, toured the 140th Wing Dec. 5-6, 2025.

Colorado National Guard 140th Wing deploys to Pacific in support of combined operations

Nearly 300 Airmen from the 140th Wing departed for a roughly three-month deployment to a Pacific Air Forces location in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility Jan. 10, 2026.

A UH-72 Lakota (foreground) and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the Colorado Army National Guard 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 135th Regiment and High-altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site conduct joint hoist rescue training with the Alpine Rescue Team, Rocky Mountain Rescue, Vail Mountain Rescue, Mountain Rescue Aspen, at the Eldora ski area and the Boulder Watershed, Colorado, during the summer of 2024.
