CENTENNIAL, Colo. (3/5/14) – The Colorado Army National Guard is currently assisting the Otero County Sheriff’s office in the search for four inmates who escaped from the county jail in La Junta, Colo.

One UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter with a crew of four Citizen-Soldiers on board launched at approximately 7:58 a.m. from the Army National Guard Aviation Support Facility on Buckley Air Force base in Aurora, Colo., to assist in the aerial search.

Gov. John Hickenlooper authorized the use of the National Guard for this mission late March 4, but a crew wasn’t able to launch due to poor weather conditions.
