138th Colorado Day celebration ceremony

 

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The public is invited to celebrate the 138th Anniversary of the State of Colorado’s entrance into the Union as the 38th state. The 138th Colorado Day ceremony will take place Aug. 1, at 8 a.m. on the west steps of the State Capitol- 200 East Colfax Avenue, Denver, Colorado.

 

The event will include Colorado dignitaries, patriotic fanfare and birthday cake.

 

Participants may enter to win a gift basket that includes a VIP trip to the Dome this fall.

 

Admission is free.

 

Schedule of Events:

 

8:00 a.m. - 8:40 a.m. Colorado State Square Dance Association along with Denver Area Callers Association perform; Pack burro presentation by the South Park National Heritage Center; Vintage vehicle display from the Forney Museum of Transportation

8:40 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Colorado Army National Guard 101st Band performance

9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.  Celebration Ceremony and remarks

9:40 a.m. Procession to History Colorado begins

10:00 a.m. History Colorado –Colorado Proud Month Kickoff

11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Historical tours of the Capitol every half hour

12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. Living history presentation in the Capitol Rotunda
