CENTENNIAL, Colo. (6/22/13) – The Colorado National Guard is currently supporting incident commanders at three different fires throughout the state of Colorado, the West Fork Complex, East Peak and Lime Gulch fires. In addition the security forces for the Black Forest fire have been released by the El Paso County Sheriff as of 8 a.m.
WEST FORK COMPLEX FIRE:
Seventeen members of the 1157th Firefighting Company (Engineers), along with their high capacity off-road firefighting trucks and water tenders, are supporting the Incident Command and the firefighting efforts at the West Fork Complex fire.
EAST PEAK FIRE:
One UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and crew with Bambi Bucket capable of dropping up to 500 gallons of water at a time
One CH-47 Chinook helicopter and crew with Bambi Bucket capable of dropping up to 2,000 gallons of water at a time
A total of 116,000 gallons of water have been dropped by Colorado National Guard Helicopters on the East Peak fire as of June 21.
Helicopters are from the Colorado National Guard’s Army Aviation Support Facility (#COAASF) on Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., and the High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site (#HAATS) in Gypsum, Colo. Helicopters are operating from the COAASF.
A total of 85 Soldiers from the Colorado Army National Guard are manning checkpoints around the fire area in support of the Huerfano County Sheriff.
The primary mission of TF-Security is to safeguard personal property and ensure only authorized personnel gain access to restricted areas based on the direction of law enforcement authorities.
Four Colorado Air National Guard Airmen are currently providing a phone, internet and radio communications platform to facilitate communications between civil and military authorities.
LIME GULCH FIRE:

One UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter outfitted with a hoist is on standby for medevac and search-and-rescue operations if needed.
BLACK FOREST FIRE:
