CENTENNIAL, Colo. (4/8/14) – The annual Easter Egg Roll for family members of Colorado National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will be held April 9 at the governor’s mansion in Denver.
Festivities will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Boettcher Mansion, located at 400 E. 8th Ave.
In 2013-14, more than 1,200 Colorado National Guard families experienced separation while their service members were called – some more than once – to support both domestic emergencies and overseas contingency operations.
“Events such as this are just a small way to thank them for their sacrifices,” said Suzanne Buemi, family assistance coordinator for the Colorado National Guard.
The event will be hosted by Air National Guard Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards, adjutant general of Colorado; his wife Laurie Edwards; and the Easter Bunny. Children will take part in a variety of games with the children including an egg roll and egg hunt.
“Our military should be recognized for supporting the commitment and resolve of their service members,” said Edwards, who commands the Colorado National Guard. “We are pleased to host this event, which helps show these families our great appreciation for their sacrifices. Gatherings like this provide a way to celebrate our families – our unsung heroes.”
Other Colorado National Guard senior leaders will also attend to show their support for families.
FOR ASSIGNMENT EDITORS: Media interested in covering this event should coordinate in advance with Air National Guard 2nd Lt. Cheresa Theiral at 303-549-4252. Media should arrive at the north gate of Boettcher Mansion by between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.
