Air National Guard Capt. Kinder Blacke

BUCKLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (4/5/13) – The 140th Wing, Colorado Air National Guard, Buckley Air Force Base, is welcoming a new commander during a change of command ceremony scheduled for Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.

Brig. Gen. Trulan A. Eyre has commanded the 140th Wing since May 2007 and will be relinquishing command to the current vice wing commander, Col. Floyd W. Dunstan, after six years of highly-appraised leadership.

Following the change of command ceremony, Eyre will be promoted to the rank of Major General and receive his second star. He has accepted a new position as the Air National Guard Advisor to 1st Air Force, Tyndall AFB, Fla.

“While I am excited about my promotion and new assignment,” Eyre said, “it is never easy to say goodbye to something that you love, which is especially true in this case as I have been a member of the Colorado Air National Guard for 25 of my 34 years of service.”

Eyre notes that the last six years he spent as the commander of the 140 WG were the most rewarding of his entire career.

“To be part of such a tremendous group of dedicated Airmen and families will be what my wife Debi and I will miss most,” he said.  “We have a kinship with everyone out here that we will certainly carry with us.”

While it is hard to move on, Eyre is confident that the future of the wing is in great hands.

Colonel Dunstan is next in line to assume leadership of the wing and he can’t wait! “I am extremely excited and honored to have this opportunity to lead the greatest wing in the Air National Guard,” he said.

As a member of the COANG for almost 25 years, Dunstan is no stranger to the wing.

“The 140th Wing is comprised of some of the most talented, motivated and patriotic people in America,” he said. “It’s a true privilege to serve amongst them.”

Dunstan has served as the vice wing commander for the past two years and is determined to “ensure that we can continue to meet, and whenever possible, exceed our mission requirements, in spite of the many challenges that are sure to arise.”

The members of the 140th Wing will give their final salute to Eyre as their outgoing commander, and their first salute to Dunstan as their new wing commander during the ceremony, marking the beginning of the next phase of excellence for the Colorado Air National Guard.
