CENTENNIAL, Colo. (10/19/12) – The Colorado Army National Guard invites the media for a look inside the Recruit Sustainment Program at the Denver Armory, Oct. 20 starting at 5 p.m.

The RSP prepares Soldiers mentally, physically and emotionally before they leave for Basic Combat Training.  RSP drills give new Soldiers the opportunity to start getting comfortable with the terminology and protocols that are part of Army National Guard service.

Special guest presenter will be Staff Sgt. Ken Weichert. Also known as "Sgt. Ken," Wiechert will give a health and nutrition presentation to the new Soldiers of the RSP followed by a workout session.

Weichert is a six-time soldier of the year, a master fitness trainer, and veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm. He has led thousands of Soldiers to better health through Operation Fit to Fight, a tactical fitness instructor training program designed to prepare Soldiers for Basic Combat Training, deployments, leadership schools and post-deployment reintegration.

For Assignment Editors: News media representatives wanting to attend please RSVP to Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Skye Robinson at 720-785-3860. There will be interview opportunities with new Soldiers before and after the presentation by Sgt. Ken, which will begin at 6 p.m., at 5275 Franklin Street, Denver, 80112.
