CENTENNIAL, Colo. (6/10/12) – A Colorado Army National Guard aircrew is assisting Garfield County authorities with Highway 13 fire suppression efforts.

A CH-47 Chinook Helicopter equipped with a 2,000 gallon BamBi Bucket® was launched this morning from the High Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site in Gypsum, Colo.

The aircraft and aircrew previously supported the Eby Creek fire efforts earlier this summer, preventing the fire from quickly spreading out of control.

The Colorado Joint Operations Center is reporting the approximately 600 acre wildfire is Northwest of Rifle, Colo.

Colorado National Guard Citizen-Soldiers and Citizen-Airmen are always ready, always there to support civil authorities.

Questions pertaining to the Colorado Army National Guard's involvement should be directed to Capt. Darin Overstreet at 720-250-1053. All other questions should be directed to the Bureau of Land Management.
