Air National Guard Maj. Elena O’Bryan
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (3/2/12) – The Colorado National Guard will conduct a joint military exercise in conjunction with local civilian agencies March 3.
During the exercise, Colorado’s National Guard Reaction Force will be at the Community College of Aurora campus in Aurora, Colo., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The NGRF is a trained and ready force able to provide governors or combatant commanders quick-reaction and rapid-response capabilities for the state. The NGRF is capable of responding and assisting in the protection of critical infrastructure, other state or national assets, and any other missions as directed to promote stability and security in the state, territory and nation.
The Aurora Police Department and the Denver Fire Department will also be participating in the exercise, which is the validation for the NGRF.
This validation is essential to evaluate the NGRF’s ability to respond to state and federal emergencies. The validation process requires the NGRF to respond to a scenario designed to test its ability to perform a variety of missions including site security, establishing checkpoints and protecting critical infrastructure.
A military and first responder presence will be visible to the public. We ask the public maintain a safe distance from the exercise.
