CENTENNIAL, Colo. (7/1/11) – The Colorado National Guard will perform its 13th annual Salute to the Union ceremony at the Colorado Veterans Memorial at Civic Center Park in Denver July 4 at 11:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The ceremony will include patriotic music, ringing of the bells, an F-16 flyover and 75-mm cannon fire in addition to the presentation, posting and display of the flags of all 50 states of the Union.

This is a traditional military ceremony seen by few civilians. It’s impressive, educational and best of all, it’s FREE!

Music will be performed by the Colorado Army National Guard’s 101st Army Band, while flags will be presented by Soldiers of the Colorado Army National Guard’s State Honor Guard. The F-16 flyover will be performed by Airmen of the Colorado Air National Guard’s 120th Fighter Squadron.

Mrs. Colorado Chantelle Huber will be the master of ceremonies and Sisters of the Mount Rose Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will ring their Liberty Bell.

Civic Center Park is located in front of the state capitol building.

The Adjutant General of Colorado, Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards, invites EVERYONE to attend this amazing patriotic event.

The event will end at approximately 12:15 p.m.
