On Jan. 10, 1961, the Colorado Air National Guard’s 120th Tactical Fighter Squadron received its new fleet of F-100C Super Sabres just days after their new assignment from Air Defense Command to Tactical Air Command.

Nine months later, the 120th received its first Operational Readiness Inspection in the F-100 and was immediately activated for service in the Berlin Crisis.
