The 104th Public Affairs Detachment is a small unit of highly skilled journalists whose mission it is to tell the "Army story". These PA professionals are photographers, videographers and journalists. The mission of the PAD is to provide public affairs support to the theater command. The PAD may be employed in a stand-alone role, supporting a Press Camp Headquarters, or supporting a command Public Affairs Office.
Typical duties include news production or release activities, media relations activities and/or operating command information programs. They produce newspapers, newsletters, daily news sheets, photographs, and broadcast-quality audio and video products.
Normally assigned as division-level support, PADs support the Army by ensuring lines of communication are always open; whether the units are on foreign soil, or stationed at home.
Army journalists utilize the power of the printed word to maintain troop morale, keep Soldiers and the public informed, and act as a go-between for civilian media queries and escort.
Colorado's 104th PAD is stationed at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado. You can reach the full-time support personnel at 720-847-8434.
