100th Missile Defense BDE

Colorado National Guard PennantThe 100th Missile Defense Brigade (Ground-based Midcourse Defense) is a Mutli-component brigade made up of Active-Component Army and Army National Guard Soldiers in Colorado, California and Alaska, tasked with the mission of defending the homeland from ballistic missile attacks.

Missile Defenders operating fire control centers at Fort Greely, Alaska and Schriever Air Base, Colo, monitor the skies 24 hours a day, seven days a week for incoming ballistic missiles.

Utilizing a worldwide array of satellite-based, sea-based and land-based sensors, these  Missile Defense Crews are able to detect missile launches, track their trajectories, and if determined to be a threat  to the homeland, launch Ground-Based Interceptors located at Fort Greely, Alaska and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California to neutralize that threat.

 Detachment 1, 100th Missile Defense Brigade is part of the California Army National Guard and located at Vandenberg Air Force Base. This small detachment is responsible for monitoring the missile field located there. 

 The 49th Missile Defense Battalion, located at Fort Greeley, Alaska is responsible for securing and monitoring the missile fields there as well as operating a fire control center.

We are 300 Soldiers defending 300 Million.
