The 947th Engineer Company (Horizontal) has the mission of horizontal construction. The mission of the 947th Engineer Company is to create roads, ditches and combat trails for military missions as well as maintain equipment and support state and federal operations.

The unit is located in three places throughout Colorado.  Headquarters and 1st Platoon is located in Grand Junction.  2nd Platoon (Detachment 1) is located on Fort Carson, and 3rd Platoon (Detachment 2) is located in Durango.

In this unit, you will find careers such as equipment operators (scrapers, graders, D-7 dozers, 5 yard front-loaders, excavating equipment, tractor trailers, and 20-ton dump trucks, among other engineer equipment), maintenance on construction and wheeled equipment, as well as administrative, and supply.

The 947th Engineer Company is also a unit of 1-157 Infantry Battalion and provides support for state and federal missions throughout the state of Colorado and the WORLD!
