DENVER — March 12, 2018 — His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Ibn Al-Hussein, of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, will be the honored guest of Gov. Hickenlooper for a national security forum entitled "Crisis & Clarity in the Middle East." The event is March 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The forum also will include Ambassador Dennis Ross, Middle East policy adviser to five U.S. presidents, and will be moderated by Catherine Herridge, award-winning Chief Intelligence correspondent for Fox News Channel. The event is part of the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL)'s global security speaker series.
"It is an honor to have His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Ibn Al-Hussein join us to speak to Jordan's partnership with the state of Colorado and the United States," said Governor John Hickenlooper. "In light of current security challenges in the Middle East, the National Guard State Partnership Program is more important than ever. We are eager to hear from the expert panel on what the future holds for the Middle East and how it will impact Jordan, the U.S. and Colorado."
Jordan and Colorado became partners through the National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP) in 2004. By linking U.S. states with designated partner countries, the SPP supports geographic Combatant Commands by building long-term military relationships, improving interoperability, and enhancing military capabilities and the principles of responsible governance. Over the past 14 years, the Soldiers and Airmen of the Colorado National Guard have engaged with their Jordanian counterparts in a variety of areas to include aviation, disaster preparedness and crisis management, and human resource development.
In addition to the Colorado-Jordan partnership, His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Ibn Al-Hussein, Ambassador Ross and Ms. Herridge will address current security concerns in the Middle East and the implications for both the U.S. and Jordan. They will examine the most pressing issues on combating terrorism in the region, as well as the geopolitical landscape related to Syria, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
