Colo. National Guard exercises to defend America's freedom
CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Colorado residents can expect more noise and activity in and around Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, March 1-4, as their Colorado Air National Guard conducts wartime readiness training.
The training will provide a ready force that is trained, equipped and verified as ready to protect our communities, state and nation.
The upcoming 4-day drill will include increased F-16 fighter flying operations and involve aircraft taking off as late as 10 p.m.
"As an Air National Guard unit, we have a limited number of days to train our traditional, part-time members," U.S. Air Force Col. Brian Turner, commander, 140th Wing, said. "This four-day training period is one of the most important training opportunities for our personnel this year, requiring us to fly later than normal."
"The community's patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as the 140th Wing works hard to perfect the mission-essential functions necessary to protect national security," Turner said.
