Grand Junction, Colo. — The Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado and the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park will present the annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
On Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., Veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States will be honored at a ceremony at the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park. The Park is located at the Colorado Welcome Center in Fruita, CO, just off Interstate 70 at the Fruita exit.
The ceremony will feature performances by Michelle Long, wife of Army Veteran Travis Long, and their children, Victoria, Selah and Taylor Long, and the Rocky Mountain Scots. The keynote speech will be given by Mr. Michael Kilmer, Medical Center Director of GJ Veterans Health Care System, and seven year old Willa and five year old Rusher Frevert of Grand Junction, will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Betty's Doves will provide a dove release. Deacon Doug VanHouten, USMC Vietnam Veteran, will deliver the invocation and benediction. A flyover will be provided by a two ship team of T-38C Talons by members of the 71st Flying Training Wing out of Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
The ceremony is open to the public. Parking is available at the Park and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating to this event, which is expected to last an hour.
