CENTENNIAL, Colo. – The Colorado National Guard Family Programs office has again teamed up with Santa Claus to provide Christmas presents in a free event open to Colorado National Guard service members and their families.

The annual Santa Shops are scheduled for Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. while supplies last at Colorado National Guard facilities in Denver and Colorado Springs.

Santa will make an appearance at the "North Pole" in Denver from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and the "South Pole" in Colorado Springs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

"We want to let all National Guard families know they are invited to attend the event," said Suzanne Buemi, CONG family assistance coordinator. "This time of the year can be tough mentally and financially…no one should be left behind."

The Santa Shops provide an opportunity for parents to "shop" for their children, and children to "shop" for their parents – all at no cost.

"I want to give a huge shutout and big thank you to our community efforts for supporting our Guardsmen, and to KZEW and Rick Crandall for always talking about our men and women in uniform," said Adjutant General of Colorado Maj. Gen. H. Michael Edwards.  It shows community awareness and how much generosity exists among our community. Programs like the Santa Shop are one way that we can ensure our Guard families are cared for."

Each family will be limited to two presents per military child and unlimited stocking stuffers while supplies last.

Hot Chocolate, cookies and crafts are available for the kids throughout the event.

All Santa Shop gifts are donated by individuals and local businesses.
